GLP-1 RA safety update for rare but severe eye disorders 24 July 2026 The Therapeutic Goods Administration has聽updated聽GLP-1 RA聽product warnings聽because of their聽potential聽to cause a rare but severe eye disorder.聽 The glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RAs) class of medicines are used to primarily treat type 2 diabetes and obesity. Emerging evidence suggests that semaglutide may be associated with a small increase in risk, although the absolute risk remains low. Seek urgent medical attention if you experience sudden loss of vision.
